High Expectations are the Key to Absolutely Everything

2025 - present

After 35 years in the construction industry, my role has morphed  as my participation on boards and business management has increased. Due to my involvement in the urban design and architecture sectors I have an in-depth appreciation for the political, strategic and developer driven factors that envelop a project, and the importance of embedding mana whenua values into all processes to enhance environments.

2022 - 2025

In 2022 I completed a Master of Architecture (Urban) at Victoria University, exploring the politics around urbanism and the opportunities legislation facilitates in New Zealand. My research contributed to a chapter published in The Complex City: Social and Built Approaches and Methods, and Otago Polytechnic’s recent Scope: Art & Design 27. Having a keen interest in pedagogy and a love of fostering the next generation, I am also a regular guest critic at both Auckland University and Victoria University architecture faculties.

To further my strategic skill set I obtained positions on both the Laura Fergusson Trust Wellington, and Te Kāhui Whaihanga New Zealand Institute of Architects boards. Both organisation’s are complex in their own sectors, requiring a deep understanding of effective business strategy and a multidisciplinary approach to problem solving.
